Die Putzfrau Mitzi Wunderer, die den depressiven Herrn Machacek vor dem Selbstmord bewahrte, und Franzi Bittner, der einen Gleichaltrigen aus der Donau gerettet hatte. Überall auf der Route der Linien 1 und 2 befindet sich ein Stück Erinnerung an solche vergessenen Menschen, und er kennt sie alle. Eine solche Welt sei eine bessere als die, welche noch immer die Luegers und Starhembergs verehrt - zum Glück sei deren steinerne nicht die wirkliche, meint er.
