Full leather with significant wear and loss of leather to most of the spine of volume two, front board detached from volume one, others holding.... Exterior fair. Interior occasional foxing throughout, moderate to heavy foxing to a few areas affecting plates. Some offsetting from illustrations and the ink on some pages. Most of the text and plates are quite nice and clean. pp.339 and 373. Illustrated with four maps: Kingdom of Morocco, Map of North Africa with a 1 inch tear at the top most fold, middle right, Map of Journey of Ali Bey and Map of Coast of Arabia and the Red Sea. Contains an explanation of the plates of which there are 83 plus. The plates, many foldouts, are out of numerical order in some places in both volumes and there are additional unnumbered plates as well as multiple plates for some numbers. Plate X is an unnumbered plate as is XV. There are a couple of pages with vertical creases, many with impressions from the folded plates and maps. The maps have not been opened in generations and have sharp folds and need a delicate touch to unfold. There are two pages of advertisements at the rear of volume two. Overall exterior fair, interior is good plus and better.
