Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Forschung und Studien, Note: 1, Universität Wien, 29 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist eine, zunächst theoretische, Annäherung an das Thema Geschlechtsstereotype. Der Komplex Kontaktanzeigen soll kommunikations-wissenschaftlich und in Bezug auf Geschlechtsstereotype abgehandelt werden. In einem empirischen Teil werden eigene Forschungsergebnisse zu Detailfragen vorgestellt. Die empirische Untersuchung beschäftigt sich exemplarisch mit den beiden österreichischen Tageszeitungen Der Standard und die Neue Kronen Zeitung. Die Daten stammen aus dem Herbst 2004.
In der Kommunikationsforschung gibt es, vor allem seit dem Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts, eine lange Tradition der Erforschung von Kontaktanzeigen. Immer wieder wird darauf hingewiesen, dass über Kontaktanzeigen gesellschaftliche Konstellationen und Bedingungen beschrieben werden können. Inserate zur Partnersuche wurden häufig stark kritisiert und sind auch aus einer feministischen Perspektive heraus ins Interesse von Studien gerückt. Ob positiv oder negativ bewertet, Kontaktanzeigen begegnen uns permanent in Tageszeitungen und anderen Medien. Sie stellen für Zeitungen eine Einnahmequelle dar (in der Kronen Zeitung zum Beispiel erscheinen täglich Kontaktanzeigen), und für Partnersuchende eine Möglichkeit, in einer zunehmend anonymen und unübersichtlichen Gesellschaft einen Partner/eine Partnerin zu finden. Auf die gesellschaftliche Relevanz des Themas weisen auch eine steigende Zahl von Dating-Shows im Fernsehen und zunehmende Möglichkeiten zur Partnersuche im Internet hin. Kontaktanzeigen eigenen sich für eine Studie besonders gut, da bei der Schaltung nicht mit einer wissenschaftlichen Untersuchung gerechnet wird. Das Material ist leicht zugänglich und von vornherein anonymisiert. Eine sehr große Zahl von Fragestellung ist möglich.

Den Beginn der Arbeit bildet ein Einblick in die Geschlechterforschung, die Gender Studies. Fragestellungen und Theorien der Geschlechterforschung stellen die Basis der vorliegenden Arbeit dar und sind für das Verständnis der Arbeit, wie für das Entstehen der Forschungsfrage grundlegend.
