Several technologies are available for the detection and quantification of natural toxins, including animal bioassays. This chapter focuses on the solutions most in demand, based on liquid chromatography with (mass) spectrometric detection for analysis of three groups of compounds with special difficulty: tetrodotoxin, lipophilic phycotoxins, and saxitoxins.
