Dies liegt zum einen daran, daß die Vermieter in der Regel an langfristigen Einnahmen interessiert sind und zum anderen daran, daß ein neuer Unternehmensstandort für den Händler mit notwendigen Anfangsinvestitionen sowie mit einer zwei- bis dreijährigen verlustbringenden Anlaufzeit verbunden ist. Hieraus ergibt es sich, daß Mietverträge oft über 10 bis 15 Jahre abgeschlossen werden.2
Die Auswahl des richtigen Standortes für ein Handelsunternehmen sollte daher mit großer Sorgfalt betrieben werden und vor einer Entscheidung alle relevanten Standortfaktoren kritisch geprüft werden.

Vor diesem Hintergrund soll sich diese Arbeit mit der Standortpolitik im Handelsmarketing auseinandersetzen. Im Grundlagenteil (Kapitel 2) soll zunächst auf Begriff, Ziele, Relevanz des Standortes und verschiedene Standorttypen eingegangen werden. In Kapitel 3 werden die verschiedenen Standortfaktoren näher erläutert. Kapitel 4 beschäftigt sich mit ausgewählten Standortentscheidungsmodellen und in Kapitel 5 soll ein kurzer Überblick über die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen zur Standortwahl gegeben werden.
