Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Theologie - Biblische Theologie, Note: 1,0, Universität des Saarlandes (Evangelische Theologie), Veranstaltung: Symposion "Urchristliche Theologiegeschichte", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Anstoß für die vorliegende Arbeit und die eingehendere Beschäftigung mit der Frage nach den Adressaten des Galaterbriefes und ihrer Lokalisierung war der Vortrag zu diesem Thema von Prof. Dr. Sänger aus Kiel auf dem Symposium anlässlich des 70. Geburtstages von Prof. Ulrich B. Müller (a.D.) im April 2008 in Saarbrücken. Prof. Sänger vertrat in seinem Vortrag – was eher für den englischen Sprachraum üblich ist – die Ansicht, die Adressaten seien im Süden der römischen Provinz Galatien zu verorten.
Die im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs anzutreffende Gegenposition, deren derzeitige Verfechter meist aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum stammen , besagt, dass die Adressaten jedoch weiter nördlich, in der Landschaft Galatien zu lokalisieren seien. Diese beiden Hypothesen, entsprechend der jeweiligen Verortung der angeschriebenen Personen und Gemeinden „südgalatische Hypothese“ oder „Provinzhypothese“ sowie „nordgalatische“ oder „Landschaftshypothese“ genannt , sollen im Folgenden genau untersucht und diskutiert werden. Zuvor dienen jedoch einige grundlegende Informationen zum Galaterbrief (Autor, Aufbau, Inhalt) als Einstieg und Hinführung zur eigentlichen Fragestellung.
