Nachdem er an der großen Schlossanlage vorbeigegangen war, um sich tiefer in die Parkanlage zu begeben, begegnete ihm ein älteres Paar, das Hand in Hand auf das Schloss zuging. Er bewunderte die Vertrautheit und Innigkeit, die die beiden alten Menschen ausstrahlten. Kurz nach dieser Begegnung schritt er an einer jungen Frau vorüber, die einen kleinen Jungen an der Hand hielt, der ihr nur widerwillig folgte. Sie warf Xaver einen misstrauischen Blick zu, als würde er unlautere Absichten verfolgen, und blieb auf Distanz zu ihm. Offenbar war sie alleinstehend und befürchtete, dass er einen
