Spätestens seit das Auktionshaus Ebay jedem Menschen mit Internetanschluss ermöglicht, unkompliziert und schnell für ein Objekt zu bieten, ist dieses Thema nicht mehr aus der Wirtschaft wegzudenken. Schon im Römischen Reich standen Versteigerungen von Sklaven regelmäßig an der Tagesordnung. Aber auch im „realen Leben“ begegnen uns Auktionen so gut wie jeden Tag. Versteigerungen von Häusern, Kunstauktionen, öffentliche Ausschreibungen, um nur ein paar der alltäglichen Formen zu nennen, gehören zu gängigen Verkaufsformen.

Vereinfacht gesagt geht es bei einer Auktion darum, dass der Verkäufer einen möglichst hohen Gewinn machen möchte. Der Bieter hingegen versucht das Versteigerungsobjekt zu einem möglichst günstigen Preis zu erhalten. Sowohl der Verkäufer als auch der Bieter hat gewisse, meist sehr gegenläufige, Vorstellungen wie hoch dieser Preis sein sollte. Des weiteren beeinflussen sowohl die Bietmethode als auch die Art des zu versteigernden Objektes diesen erzielbaren Preis. Um möglichst hohe Gewinne durch das versteigerte Objekt zu generieren, kommt es in der Praxis oft zu sogenanntem kollusiven Verhalten. Bieter schließen sich in Gruppen zusammen und versuchen dadurch einen besseren Preis zu erzielen und ihren Gewinn zu maximieren. Es gibt unterschiedliche Arten von kollusivem Verhalten. Diese hängen wie auch der Preis von den äußeren Gegebenheiten der Auktion ab.

Die vorliegende Seminararbeit soll einen Überblick über Auktionen und die möglichen Arten und Auswirkungen von kollusivem Verhalten geben.
