Hierbei werden die Grundlagen der Wirtschaft herausgearbeitet sowie die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen dem wirtschaftenden Menschen und den bewirtschafteten Räumen“ (Geographisch-Kartographisches Institut Meyer, 1986, S.390). Ich werde den Wirtschaftsraum Thüringen auf dessen Siedlungsstrukturen, wichtigen Wirtschaftszweigen, dessen Wirtschaftskraft und den Arbeitsmarkt hin untersuchen. Des Weiteren werde ich Bevölkerungsstrukturen vorstellen und das Problem der Migration und Pendelwanderung beschreiben. Aufgrund der hohen Komplexität, die dieses Thema mit sich bringt, kann ich mit dieser Arbeit nur einen kleinen Einblick auf die Wirtschaft und die Bevölkerung Thüringens geben und verweise daher auf die aufgelistete Literatur.
